About The Author of WIDOWHOOD HAPPENS
Gene K. Garrison is a prolific writer, having freelanced since 1972. She was a feature articles writer for Carefree Enterprise Magazine for 20 years and wrote the Hube Yates memoir, From Thunder to Breakfast, about a pioneer with a great sense of humor. In addition to Widowhood Happens, she is the author of There’s Something About Cave Creek (It’s The People), and a children’s book about wild pig-like animals that roam our Southwestern deserts, titled Javelina (Have-uh-WHAT?)
While working on writing projects she has acted, been directors’ assistant and produced plays and musicals for the Desert Foothills Community Theater in Cave Creek and Carefree, Arizona.
Her photographs have been published in magazines and hung in art galleries.
The artistic bent resulted in her founding the non-profit Desert Artists, Inc., where she and her husband were participating artists for sixteen years.
She is currently a member of the Sedona Camera Club, The Sedona Arts Center and The Society of Experimental Artists. She is also a member of two writers’ organizations, the Sedona Writers Salon and the Professional Writers of Prescott. Her art is shown on the Internet at Fine Art America, and she is listed in Who’s Who in America.
